Sports Nutrition and Psychology

So many athletes are looking for the competitive edge. Often times we see athletes turn to strict diets and an unhealthy focus on body leanness in order to gain that edge; however, this unfortunately can backfire in terms of performance and even lead to the development of disordered eating habits or a full-blown eating disorder. There are over 40 factors that can contribute to performance and each athlete’s body and needs are unique to their own body and sport. Many athletes who over-train and engage in unhealthy and unneeded dieting strategies often rebound in the offseason with food and exercise, leaving long-term all or nothing associations with food and weight.

At Lotus Therapy Group we work with each athlete to help increase performance through nutrition intervention while also working on mindfulness and normalized eating habits for the sport to prevent the development of unhealthy relationships with food later in life or during the offseason.
